Will the first 100 voters make it a million?

Gandhiji is not passe! That human storm in the Middle East required risking physical harm.  This is a mere call to hold hands in cyberspace.  Bring in your family, friends and collegues.  Let us salute the South Africans who participated with their feet and their voices. Member of the Lions Club-send the URL  http://freedomwalk-aziz.blogspot.com/  member of any other: Rotary, Tablers, Brother Masons, Sarvodaya Mandal, School clubs whatever Adopt this cause, make it yours!

Gandhigiri!

Maintaining a link with an ancestral village-Morba- and contributing to its economy and welfare take a special kind of individual.  There are those South Africans who remain connected and this is what is amazing!  This is Gandhigiri too!

What is so Special About South African Indians?

DID YOU KNOW?

·        In 1860, 330 South Indians bit the bullet and embarked on a voyage over Kalapani.  They had heard of fields of gold and riches awaiting them at the end of the Rainbow in South Africa.   While some wanted to escape the caste system, others wanted to escape the establishment-remember the Brits had tightened their clutches after the 1857 Sepoy Mutiny.  There may have been many other reasons - one thing for sure they left India in the quest for a better life.

WHY
India which paid a beautiful tribute to a people –South Africans - who gave us a Mahatma

It is the only visual remnant of the Cultural Bridge effort  which was for and by ordinary  citizens of
India and South Africa

WHAT

September 20, 2010, Johannesburg, SOUTH AFRICA – A extremely reticent, reclusive Indian artist, Aziz, presented a painting “Freedom Walk,” to His Excellency Mr. Virendra Gupta, High Commissioner of India, Pretoria, South Africa.

Using his signature “three dimensional relief” technique on canvas, Aziz’s painting vividly depicts Mahatma Gandhi, striding forward, supported and led by a young boy, with present and past leaders of Indian and South African freedom movements such as Nelson Mandela, former Prime Ministers Jawaharlal Nehru “Frontier Gandhi,” Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan among others.

WHERE

Adopt it  and make it a Global Effort.
HOW
